Yongtai Village is a good choice for those who cannot confirm their schedule in advance and would like to find budget accommodation in the last minute, yet do not mind much of the convenience to Canton Fair complex(Pazhou).

It is one of the very few places in Guangzhou where you will be able to find rooms with shower, air conditioner and still charge less than US$20 even during Canton Fair

The main reason is, physically it is quite far from Pazhou (20k.m), and there is no metro nearby, yet, since it is still located in Guangzhou, you can still find a taxi easily. Also, environment in this area is not so good, remote and without much entertainment. Therefore, very few foreign buyers would stay here.

However, Yongtai Village has many advantages which are worthwhile for you to consider:

1. Low price, starts from US$15-20 per night.
2. Comparatively higher vacancy during canton fair: there are a large number of hotels in Yongtai, rooms would always be available. It is one of the very few areas which we think is OK for you to visit till you arrive in Guangzhou at the airport, and then decide which hotel to stay during canton fair as the occupancy rate of this area is not high.
3. Much faster to arrive in Pazhou than many other areas which are physically close to Pazhou: even though it is 20 km from Pazhou, it only takes 30 minutes (around US$10 by taxi) to get to Pazhou, since you can bypass the downtown where there is always traffic congestion in the peak time.
4. You can enjoy the benefit of both worlds: there are some western restaurants and supermarkets as it is just next to the main expatriate community in Guangzhou Castle Hill Broadway. At the same time, you just need to pay the low local price for your room.
5. Ample choice for lower priced local restaurants than the average price in Guangzhou. Since Yongtai Village is in the peripheral of Guangzhou city, mainly inhibited by workers from other provinces or rural areas who work in Guangzhou, therefore, the price level in this district is much lower than other areas.

Rooms in the hotels are mainly basic, with beds, bathroom, air condition, TV, etc.

If you just look for a resting place and do not mind too much about the surrounding environment, and willing to use the saving in hotel room to pay for the taxi fare, staying in Yongtai Village would be a good choice.
