Luochongwei is an old industrial area in Guangzhou, 10 minutes drive from Guangzhou Railway Station. There is no metro nearby, and the surroundings are not so good, with factories, heavy traffic, dusty air, and large number of floating population. It takes around 30 minutes to Pazhou by taxi.

It is the area with many cheap accommodations, starting from US$15, but at least half of them do not accept foreign guests. The average ones just provide basic facilities, but most of them are without shuttle bus to Pazhou. The relatively better facilitated hotels would double the room rates during Canton Fair, yet the rates still fall in the range of US$20---US$60.

Daily life here is still convenient in the residential area, mainly for low-mid end consumption. However, the streets are dirty, with open markets selling vegetables, fruits, etc, rubbish will be seen anywhere. At the side of industrial area, the air is somewhat polluted because of the factories.

There are some mid-low end small-scale wholesale markets for hardware, plastic, lighting and furniture.
