Tonghe is a suburban town in north of Guangzhou, yet 10 minutes drive from Guangzhou East Railway Station (where starts the thorough train to Hong Kong). There is no metro nearby, but for its unimpeded transport, you will able to reach Pazhou in half an hour, and around 35 minutes to the airport.

Hotels in Tonghe would double the room rates during Canton Fair, ranging from US$20 to US$60, but still, you can find a few hostels who would not increase the rates, starting from US$15. They provide standard facilities like Internet access, and some of them offer free shuttle bus to Pazhou. Those star hotels are worth considering, for their value for money.

Generally, Tonghe is a good choice for those who concern on budget and no need to seek fun or nightlife around. But don’t worry, the nearest downtown Tianhe CBD is just about 15 minutes drive away.
