Huangqi & Yanbu are just right next to the west border of Guangzhou (Fangcun district), so in terms of transportation to other parts of Guangzhou, it could be treated as part of Fangcun district, even though they administratively belong to Foshan. It’s within 15 minutes taxi to the nearest Guangzhou metro station Fangcun.

It takes 35—50 minutes to Pazhou by taxi (taxi fare: around RMB70), and to the nearest Guangzhou downtown Shangxiajiu, it takes 15—25 minutes. Traffic in Huangqi is very crowed and disordered, but in Yanbu, it’s difficult to take a taxi. Geographically, it is a little far from other parts of Guangzhou (except Fangcun).

Environments in these two areas are not so good --- it’s some kind of chaos since there are a number of floating population. There’s no entertainment, but still convenient for daily life. In Yanbu, there are many wholesale markets of lingerie or fabric.

General review on hotel in these areas

Generally, the only merit of the hotels in these areas is the relatively low room rate, most of which do not increase during Canton Fair, mainly ranging from US$ 10 to US$ 40, except for some of the star hotels which charge at most US$120 for Canton Fair rate.

Except for the 4 or 5 star hotels, the budget hotels are with basic facilities, but most of them do not provide shuttle bus to Pazhou. So if you do not mind to save the room rates for the traffic fee, and do not mind the environment, you can take Huangqi and Yanbu into consideration.
