Chebei is on the eastern border of Guangzhou, which used to be a rural area a few years ago, but is quickly developed into urban area in recent years. Psychologically, Guangzhou local people would regard it as a remote part of Guangzhou. However, since it is only 7 km and 10 minutes’ taxi to Pazhou, and with highway, you can get to Guangzhou East Railway Station, Tianhe CBD in 15 minutes. So, it would be a good choice for those who are looking for budget accommodation in the area with convenient transportation and no need to stay in the heart of city.

Chebei is a good choice for serious business traveler to Canton Fair. Since psychologically, people do not regard this area close to any landmark, no matter Canton Fair, Tianhe CBD, or shopping districts, etc. Yet, in fact, thanks to the highway, you would be able to reach these landmarks within 15-20 minutes. So, you can get all the convenience, with no need to pay for the premium.

Generally speaking, Chebei is neither a commercial nor tourist district; therefore, there are only a small amount of hotels. Yet recently, there appear several star hotels, which mainly cater to those budget travelers who need to go to Tianhe CBD on regular basis. These hotels would have decent facilities and many of them would offer free shuttle bus to Pazhou. Some of them have the experience in receiving foreign guests. The room rates range from US$50—100. However, when you walk a little deeper in the village, the typical village in Guangzhou, you will find some cheap accommodations. Since many villagers would renovate their home and turn it into guesthouse. Legally, they are not allowed to take foreign guest. Yet practically, it seems nobody care most of the time. So, if you are really looking for bargain, say, US$15 for a double room and do not mind to stay in such guesthouse, some of which are not very untidy, then this is the place. Of course, that means you need to tolerate all other short comings such as: nobody speak English, shared bathroom, no shuttle bus to Pazhou, etc.

In all, staying in Chebei, you can get a feel of rural and urban environment of Guangzhou at the same time.
