Guangzhou Railway Station (NOT the one where Guangzhou-Hong Kong through train starts) area, where sites the former Canton Fair venue Liuhua Complex (which will no longer be used since 104th Canton Fair), used to be one of the top choices for Canton Fair visitors. Yet, it now loses all the advantages of close to Canton Fair venue, and it takes about 30minutes metro or taxi to Pazhou Complex. So will the room rates in this area greatly reduced? Just wait and see.

Staying in this area, you will be able to enjoy the convenience of a city center. Metro stations are within walking distance. It is also the transport hub of Guangzhou, with 2 long-distance coach stations. If you would like to find a base to explore, and visit different factories in Pearl River Delta, you would find staying here pretty convenient. You can take the coach from Liu Hua or GZ Provincial Coach Station to other cities in Guangdong, like Foshan, Dongguan, etc.

If you enjoy to get a first hand feel of the hassle and bustle of Guangzhou city life, or you would like to stay close to wholesale market of garment, watches, shoes etc, such as White Horse Dress, Xin Da Di Dress, this is the place to be. Yet, it is one of the most chaotic areas in Guangzhou, with great number of passengers moving and cargos transferring. The law and order is not so good.

General reviews on the hotels in this area

Room rates of the 4-5 star hotels near the Liuhua Canton Fair Complex, like China Hotel and Dongfang Hotel, are pretty high; yet, the 2-3 star hotels along Zhanqian Road (a block away from the railway station) would charge less, US$40--80. They are with basic facilities and most of them provide free shuttle bus to Pazhou.

Others hotels would be scattered next to the overpass, where it’s quite noisy all the time and the sound insulation in room is not so good. They provide poor facilities; some may be without Internet access, but charge much lower price.
