Shiqiao, the central area of Panyu (which is considered as the southern
outskirt of Guangzhou), is 7 metro stops from Pazhou (about 30 minutes
drive).
Except for the travel time to downtown (around 40 minutes) and Pazhou,
transport in Shiqiao is convenient enough. Metro stations are within
walking distance for most hotels, and some are within 10 minutes taxi.
There are also airport express line, long-distance coach to other parts
of Guangdong, and taxis are easy to find.
There are ample choices for budget hotels in Shiqiao, most of which would
not increase the room rates during Canton Fair, ranging from US$15 to
US$30. They provide basic facilities like internet access, but seldom
offer shuttle bus to Pazhou. Other star hotels are better facilitated,
charging US$50 to US$220.
In the center of Shiqiao, daily life is convenient. Shopping malls,
various kinds of restaurants, like Japanese Sushi, Korean restaurants,
western restaurants are available. Recreation facilities are also easily
found, like sauna centers, nightclubs, etc., amongst which Chimelong
Water Park is a nice choice for those who come here with family.
What’s more, you can find the furniture, and hotel & restaurant supply
wholesale markets here. Generally, it is some kind of downtown in
Guangzhou suburb, relatively quiet and less crowded.
