South-western Haizhu area is about 6-10 kilometers south-west from Pazhou, Canton Fair venue. In the north part of this area, it’s easy to access to metro stations, but there is often traffic congestion, so it may cost you around 30 minutes to Pazhou by taxi sometimes. In the south of this area, like Nanzhou, it’s far away from metros, but taking a taxi to Pazhou may just cost you about 15 minutes. There is also a coach station nearby, called Haizhu Bus Station, where you can take the coach to other cities.

There are mainly two kinds of hotels. Budget hotels are a little old, without adequate room service and most of the hotel staffs do not speak English. The only appealing point is that some of them just charge less than US$20 during the Canton Fair, with TV, air-conditioning, and even shuttle buses are provided. Other hotels with better facilities, would offer other services like sauna and Chinese massage, and they would ask for much higher prices, at about $70.

It is easy to find supermarkets, Chinese restaurants and banks around. In Nanzhou, you can also find the wholesale markets for shoes, hotel supply, hardware and daily necessities nearby.

Because of its location on one of the busiest roads in Guangzhou, the surrounding environment is not so satisfying. Air is polluted by dust and tail gas from vehicles. As it always crowds with passengers, the area is usually noisy and the streets are contaminated by scattered rubbish. In addition, for some rural places, it may be not safe enough for going out during the mid-night.
